Corner Brook’s super-fun holiday concert tradition chimes anew when Allison Crowe, home from global touring and recording, brings “Tidings” to the ACC stage.

This one-of-a-kind musical celebration features favourite carols from the traditional songbook alongside Crowe’s distinctive mix of original tunes plus interpretations of classics by island greats Gary O’Driscoll, Buddy Wasisname, Ryan’s Fancy and songsmiths from afar – including The Beatles, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.

It’s a lively concert brew made ever-richer as Allison Crowe explores the world adding to her repertoire of songs for vocal, piano, guitar, and bodhran.

As Musical Director for the hit show “Newfoundland Vinyl” at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival, she delights in those melodies and emotions that resonate with life on the coast. Arranging music for choirs, last Christmas with Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador’s adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”, and this year with TNL’s “The Gift of the Magi”, further attunes the unique blend of reverence and playfulness with which the artist approaches the holiday canon.

It’s such singular artistry and virtuosity, too, that’s made Allison Crowe a legend from the Scottish Highlands, where she brought down the house - on a bill with Carol Ann Duffy, Britain’s Poet Laureate, and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, the Master of the Queen's Music – to Hollywood, where Superman movie director Zack Snyder counts himself a big fan. When she toured with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet audiences responded with spontaneous standing ovations. Allison Crowe shows are thrilling and uniquely intimate affairs as reflected in the comfort and joy delivered by “Tidings”.
